CONVERSATION WITH LITTLE GIRLS JOSH MCINTYRE & VIEWERS
After the Monotonix show I got a chance to talk to a few people who were at the show (Tristan and Jessica) as well as with the lead vocalist of the opening band, Little Girls (Josh MacIntyre)
.
Little Girls are a local Toronto band that have started to increase in popularity and are currently on tour. They soon will be joining Vancouver band, You Say Party! We Say Die! on their tour.
UGR: Why do you think their pants are so tight?
Jessica: Because they’re from Toronto
Tristan: They have low self-esteem.
UGR: Would you rather keep playing at venues like the Velvet Underground or is a show at somewhere like the ACC where you’d like to be.
Josh: Neither, actually. I really prefer playing house parties because then there are no bouncers or restrictions and you can do whatever.
UGR: What are your influences? I know this is a cheesy question but I only ask it because ambient rock is a genre of music that is really only just starting to come into its own so to follow in that category, I’m curious where you draw inspiration from.
Josh: Um, Hip-Hop. I used to produce hip-hop music of my own and I did so by layering the beats, and I do the same with my music now.
Tristan asking Josh: What is your favorite Nintendo game?
Josh: On Super Nintendo, Legend of Zelda. Link was my boy.
Tristan asking Josh: Why do you have stars on your guitar?
Josh: They were there when it was given to me.
Jessica asking Josh: Who gave you the guitar?
Josh: My dad.
I there learnt that Josh’s dad once played guitar with Tom Cochrane before he went solo. He now writes for a business magazine.
Jessica: Was your dad an influence to you?
Josh: Oh yeah, of course. He told me that I could play guitar on one condition, and that was that I was to never play Stairway to Heaven in the house.
Jessica: Why?
Josh: Because he just hates that song.
Jessica: Isn’t it the easiest way to learn scales?
Josh: Yeah it is. I wasn’t taught by my dad, I actually took lessons. My guitar teacher never wanted me to learn scales. He didn’t want me to stay conformed to a certain method, he wanted me to explore and be able to make it my own.

A lot of of folks talk about this matter but you said some true words!!
Interesting stuff – thanks!
